Honda’s mission to go electric centers on producing vehicles that align with the Triple Action to Zero philosophy: carbon neutrality, clean energy, and resource circulation. The resulting Honda EV and hybrid cars cut down your emissions.
Ultium Battery-Powered EV Technology
Honda’s latest EV lineup features the BEV3 platform with Ultium battery technology. The powertrain provides a range of up to 400 miles in some vehicles. Honda EVs are compatible with Level 2 and DC chargers, since most Ultium 400-volt battery packs have 200 kW fast-charging capabilities.
For its post-2025 lineup, Honda partnered with LG Energy Solutions to create its own EV batteries. The automaker also plans to assemble its own Intelligent Power Unit (IPU), as a part of the Honda 0 (zero) Series.
e-HEV Powered Hybrid Technology
The e-HEV powertrain found on new Honda hybrids features two electric motors, one for traction and another for energy generation. The traction motor powers an axle, while the generator motor converts the combustion engine’s output into electricity, recharging the battery and supporting the regenerative braking system.
The ICE provides minimal assistance at low speeds, letting the electric motor handle most of the driving to save fuel. This is a function of the vehicle’s auto-switching three drive mode system, which includes EV, Hybrid, and Engine Drive modes.
